Frequently asked questions
Where can I find solar and renewable energy tenders in South Africa?+
Public solar and renewable energy tenders are advertised on National Treasury's eTenders portal and on provincial, municipal and SOE sites. Bidcheck reads them into one live feed, with 4 open right now, most of them in Gauteng, and emails you new ones every morning. Searching is free.
What do I need to qualify for solar and renewable energy tenders?+
Usually: PV GreenCard or equivalent installer accreditation; A registered electrician and a CoC for the AC side of the installation; Products on the approved lists (e.g. NRS 097 for grid-tied inverters) and registration with the municipality for grid-tied systems; A CIDB grade in EP or EB for larger installations, plus CSD registration. Each tender's own requirements can be stricter, so check the tender data and returnable schedule before pricing.
How do I win more solar and renewable energy tenders?+
Include a simple energy-yield estimate. Technical evaluators score design competence, and most small bidders do not show any. Beyond that, keep your CSD profile, tax PIN and B-BBEE affidavit current, attend every compulsory briefing, and bid on tenders the buyer can actually pay for. Bidcheck scores each tender against your profile and flags buyers with a poor payment record.
